St Peter’s Free Church, Dundee, was the venue for
a Festival of Psalms held on the 1st October, 2005. A
choir of 100 voices, drawn from many parts of Scotland,
led a large congregation in singing a selection of
traditional and contemporary metrical psalms to a
mixture of well known and less familiar tunes.
St Peter’s was the scene of the ministry of Rev. Robert
Murray McCheyne between 1836 and 1843. Before his death
at the young age of 29, McCheyne had witnessed the
conversion of hundreds in his parish. This DVD
investigates the lessons we can learn today from this
remarkable ministry.
This recording includes extended
extracts from the Festival, and also investigates some
of the ways the Free Church of Scotland is meeting the
challenge of bringing the Gospel to the Lowlands of
Scotland and to countries overseas. |
