The Tim Wright Sound was a unique Scottish Band, which differed from the now standard line up of accordions, fiddle, piano, double bass and drums and was extremely popular in the Edinburgh area during the 1920's to the 1960's. The web site designed and produced by HCVF was commissioned to complement the Tim Wright Sound Volume 2 CD which was produced by our Audio Department.
Our Audio Department was given the task of cleaning up and enhancing old audio tape reel recordings, and even tracks recorded on early wire recording devices. Some of the recordings had suffered the over the years from lying in storage, and required a considerable amount of time and expertise to bring them back to a quality good enough to edure the scrutiny of a BBC broadcast for "Take the Floor"
The CD contains a wide selection of performances, rehearsals and solo piano pieces featuring the Bandleader Tim Wright playing his signature tune "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean" and other selections including "The Skye Boat Song", "T'ither Morn" and "When You And I Were Young Maggie" adding up to a valuable archive of twenty-two memorable renditions from the band.
The Web Site www.thetimwrightsound.co.uk (visit by clicking this link) has most of the CD tracks, but also a potted history of the years of the band and some informed and interesting analysis of their unique blend of fiddles and clarinets and how the band evolved through the years
